In Remembrance...

To the ones who gather for the love of music and found only bloodshed,
As fear scattered the people and bullets rained from overhead.
To the one who saw her crying and embraced her in his own death,
Covering her as a human shield he took his last breath.

In Remembrance...
He broke bread and poured wine.
In Remembrance...
We all share around the same table, commune, and dine.

Raising hands and voices to the Lord above,
Church was meant to be the Divine's labor of love.
When brokenness storms the open doorway,
And violence disrupts all in the Lord's day.

In Remembrance...
He broke bread and poured wine.
In Remembrance...
We all share around the same table, commune, and dine.

When the soldier stands tall in salut at the War Memorial,
And Terror strikes with a unconscionable blow leaving nothing but turmoil.
To the officer who directed traffic only to be run down,
Who still fought off his attacker and who's courage is now renown.

In Remembrance...
He broke bread and poured wine.
In Remembrance...
We all share around the same table, commune, and dine.

To those who stood arm in arm while walking the streets in Charlottesville,
Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, and all who have had their racial fill,
Of injustice, Jim Crow, monumental bigotry, and ignorant Twitter chatter,
We stand in unified remembrance that black, white, hispanic... all lives matter.

In Remembrance...
He broke bread and poured wine.
In Remembrance...
We all share around the same table, commune, and dine.

Remembrance Day is for far more then just veterans, soldiers, and war,
It is also for all those who seek justice with a moment of incarnate outpour;
With a resilient spirit that seeks righteousness, peace, and the goodness of all humanity,
This is the greatest call of Jesus and the communal commission for all Christianity.

In Remembrance...
He broke bread and poured wine.
In Remembrance...
We all share around the same table, commune, and dine.
